Professional Padel in Romania

Romania's professional padel only joined the FIP calendar for the first time in 2025, and the climb since has been fast: a Silver event in Timișoara repeated in 2026, then September's FIP Gold Bucharest at the Năstase și Marica Sports Club — the biggest tournament Romania has staged. FIP's own competition director has called the country the hub of padel in Eastern Europe. On the rankings, Romanian padel is still finding its feet internationally: 24 players carry a FIP ranking, led by Alice Radu, a former competitive tennis player who switched codes in late 2023 and sits well clear of the rest of the field. Most of her compatriots are still clustered deep in the world rankings, picking up ranking points at home and at nearby Balkan and Central European stops. Wildcards into the Bucharest and Timișoara draws have let local pairs test themselves against the tour's best, even as results stay scarce — the honest picture of a scene still building its first generation of competitive players.

History of padel in Romania

Padel reached Romania by beach in 2013, then spent over a decade as a purely domestic pursuit before the international game noticed: no FIP tournament touched the Balkans or Eastern Europe until Timișoara hosted one in 2025, and Bucharest staged the country's first Gold event only in 2026.
