Netherlands vs Paraguay in Professional Padel

The Netherlands's padel scene grew up inside its tennis federation, formally merging with it only a few years ago, and has since built one of Europe's largest amateur followings even as elite results remain a work in progress. Paraguay took the opposite structural path, run by its own dedicated padel body from the early 1990s onward, with a smaller participation base but a more clearly defined professional route from the start. Neither structure has produced a dominant competitive power, which makes the comparison less about who governs Dutch or Paraguayan padel than about what each governance model has, and has not, delivered.

Each country’s own record across the professional tour — not results against each other. A title counts once per country, so a mixed pair winning a final counts for both. Ranking bands count the men’s and women’s rankings together — they are separate ladders, so a top 10 holds twenty players — and which bands are shown depends on where these two countries’ players actually sit.

Key insights

  • Dutch padel was run by a separate, dedicated body before merging into the national tennis federation only a few years ago.
  • Paraguay's padel has been governed by its own federation, independent of tennis, since joining the international game in the early 1990s.
  • The Netherlands has built one of Europe's largest amateur followings without yet producing a commensurate depth of ranked professionals.
  • Paraguay's smaller base has nonetheless kept a more clearly defined professional pathway running since its federation's founding.
