Professional Padel in the UK
Christian Medina Murphy reached the quarter-finals of the Premier Padel event in Cancún in 2025, the furthest any British player has gone at that level, and took a fourth FIP title at the Bronze event in Hong Kong the same season. Tia Norton closed her season with five semi-finals and a final from her last seven FIP events, and Alex Loughlan reached his first FIP final in Denmark. 79 British players hold a world ranking, almost all competing on the FIP circuit. It is a young list in every sense: padel had 69 courts and no governing body until 2020, so nearly everyone on it came to the sport as an adult.

There were 1,553 courts across 559 venues at the end of 2025, up from 870 courts at 293 venues a year earlier. When the LTA took over governance of the sport in 2020 there were 69 courts in Great Britain.
Who governs padel in the UK?
The Lawn Tennis Association, which became the national governing body for padel in 2020. That gave the sport an immediate national competitive structure and access to an existing club estate.
Could British padel see the same crash as Sweden?
It is a live question. Both markets grew on the same investment logic, that participation growth justifies continued construction. Britain is building later with Sweden's outcome on record, and a larger share of its capacity sits at clubs with other revenue rather than at standalone centres carrying full property costs.
Why did padel grow so quickly in Britain?
A governing body arrived early and provided structure, commercial operators entered a market with almost no incumbents, and the sport appealed to adults who had already drifted away from tennis and squash.
