Varlion Avant
Avant is the teardrop in Varlion's shape-led catalogue, sitting between the round LW and the diamond Cañón. Where the brand's other families are hybrids of those two, the Avant is one of the three base shapes the whole range is built from.
Its builds are technology names — Carbon Black for the layup and Difusor for the shaped insert Varlion sets into the frame to change how the face responds. Neither is a level: they describe what a particular Avant is made of rather than where it sits.

Questions about the Varlion Avant
What is the Difusor?
A shaped PVC insert Varlion sets into the frame, enclosed so it does not move, which changes how the face responds at contact. The ball strikes it as it would another rigid surface of the racket. It is a build feature applied across several Varlion families rather than something unique to the Avant.
Where does the Avant sit against Varlion's other shapes?
In the middle. Varlion organises its whole catalogue by shape: the LW is round for control, the Cañón is diamond for power, and the Avant is the teardrop between them. The Bourne and the Maxima are then fusions of those base shapes rather than separate ideas.
Is a teardrop the safe choice?
It is the compromise rather than the safe one. A teardrop puts more mass towards the top than a round frame, so it produces more and forgives less; the round LW is the more forgiving option and the diamond Cañón the more demanding. If you do not know which you want, the teardrop is where most players start.
