Varlion Bourne
Bourne is a fusion of two of Varlion's base shapes — the diamond Cañón and the teardrop Avant — built to improve the power of the second and the control of the first. That makes it a hybrid by design rather than by accident, which is how Varlion structures the upper half of its catalogue.
Its builds are technology names: Summum marks the range, Prisma Carbon Soft and Carbon TI name layups and frame profiles, Carbon Black the finish and One a further variant. None of them is a level; they describe what a particular Bourne is made of.

What is the Bourne a fusion of?
The Cañón and the Avant — Varlion's diamond and its teardrop. The intention is to add control to the diamond's power and power to the teardrop's control, which puts the Bourne between them rather than above either. Varlion builds its hybrids from its base shapes, so understanding the three shapes explains the whole catalogue.
Bourne or Maxima?
They are the brand's two fusions and they start from different places. The Bourne combines the Cañón and the Avant, so it leans towards power; the Maxima combines the LW and the Avant, so it leans towards control. Choose on which side of the teardrop you want to land.
What does Summum mean on a Varlion?
It is a range marker Varlion applies across several families rather than a build of one. It denotes a longer grip and an enlarged hitting surface. So an LW Summum and a Bourne Summum share that specification while remaining two different shapes.
