Varlion Maxima

Maxima is Varlion's other fusion, combining the round LW with the teardrop Avant, which places it on the control side of the catalogue as the Bourne sits on the power side. Varlion describes it as its top-of-range shape, and it is where the brand's most complete specifications land.

The builds are technology names: Summum marks the range with a longer grip and enlarged face, while Prisma Airflow, Prisma Radio and Prisma Soft name frame profiles and layups. A WPT build also exists from the tour era.

Questions about the Varlion Maxima

What is the Maxima a fusion of?

The LW and the Avant — Varlion's round frame and its teardrop. That combination leans towards control, which is what separates it from the Bourne, the brand's other fusion, which starts from the diamond Cañón instead. Both sit above the three base shapes in the catalogue.

What does Prisma mean on a Maxima?

It is Varlion's patented frame profile, developed to cut aerodynamic drag, and the company puts the improvement at up to ten percent less wind resistance than earlier versions. It appears across the brand's families rather than being unique to the Maxima, so it describes the frame rather than the level.

Is the Maxima the top of Varlion's range?

It is the brand's top-of-range shape, which is not quite the same as the most expensive racket. Varlion organises by shape rather than by level, so the Maxima is where the fullest specifications tend to land while the LW, Avant and Cañón cover the base shapes. The Rega line then sits above all of them as a premium collection.
