Why does a table tennis brand matter in padel?
Because Stiga arrived with genuine racket-sport engineering rather than a licensed logo. Its padel range borrows directly from eight decades of table tennis development — most visibly the Cybershape's hexagonal head, carried over from the blade used at the top of world table tennis. That crossover gave Stiga an identity in padel that most late-entering multi-sport brands lack.
What is actually different about the Cybershape padel racket?
Its geometry. While nearly every padel racket is round, teardrop or diamond, the Cybershape uses a hexagonal head that Stiga claims enlarges the sweetspot and moves it higher in the face, mirroring the concept behind its table tennis version. Independent padel media covered it as the first meaningfully new head shape in years — a rare structural experiment in a conservative market.
Why is Stiga's padel strategy so focused on Scandinavia?
It is playing to home advantage rather than fighting Spanish specialists on their own ground. Stiga's padel sponsorships — the Swedish and Danish national champions, the Padel Explosion youth cup, a named Swedish arena — all deepen its standing in the Nordic market, where its name already carries decades of trust from table tennis and where padel's recreational base remains large.
How committed is Stiga to padel after the Swedish boom cooled?
The timing of its investments is telling. Stiga named padel a strategic growth area in 2023 and made most of its visible commitments — champion signings, the youth cup, the arena naming — in 2025 and 2026, after Sweden's court-building bubble had already deflated. That reads as a long-term position in Nordic padel rather than a boom-time experiment, though the company publishes no padel revenue figures.
About Stiga
Stiga's padel story is a distinctly Swedish one. The company has built table tennis equipment in Eskilstuna since 1944 and remains Swedish-owned, split between the founding Bandstigen family and investor Swedia Capital. When padel boomed in Sweden, Stiga followed: its first padel collection is reported to have arrived at the end of 2019, and the range has been developed with input from Daniel Dios Zetterlind, a former professional and Swedish national-team figure. By 2023 the company was formally naming padel as a growth area alongside its core table tennis business.
Its defining padel moment came in 2024 with the Cybershape, a racket that transplanted the hexagonal head shape of its top table tennis blade into padel, with a claimed larger sweetspot positioned higher in the face. Padel media treated it as the first genuinely new head shape in a market that had settled on round, teardrop and diamond, and it gave Stiga something no Spanish specialist could copy overnight: a signature geometry rooted in another racket sport.
Rather than chasing the Spanish professional circuit, Stiga has built its padel presence at home. It signed Swedish champion Douglas Rutgersson in 2025 and Danish champion Nils Skajaa in 2026, took title sponsorship of the Scandinavian youth cup Padel Explosion through 2027, and put its name on a Swedish arena whose events use the Stiga Ace ball. The racket range steps from the beginner-friendly Arc and Act models through the mid-range Art to the performance-level Ace and Cybershape lines. Outside the Nordics, Stiga remains a curiosity in padel; within them, it is one of the more recognisable domestic alternatives to the Spanish specialists.
