Carolina Navarro Björk

One of the defining figures of the women's professional game, Carolina Navarro Björk spent the better part of a decade at world number one and won world titles in both pairs and national-team competition. Born in Malaga to a Spanish father and a Swedish mother, she crossed over from tennis in her late teens and built a backhand-court game on defence, patience and positional intelligence. Her 35 titles from 61 finals place her among the most decorated players the women's tour has had.
