Argentina won the men's title at the FIP World Padel Championships in Doha, beating Spain 2-1 in the final despite losing the opening rubber: Franco Stupaczuk and Martin Di Nenno fell to Arturo Coello and Jorge Nieto, before Agustin Tapia and Federico Chingotto levelled the tie and Leo Augsburger and Tino Libaak closed it out in a match that went to a third set. Spain took the women's title with a more comfortable 2-0 win over Argentina: Claudia Fernandez Sanchez and Gemma Triay Pons won the opening rubber, then Paula Josemaria Martin and Ariana Sanchez Fallada sealed it, leaving the closing rubber unplayed. Sixteen nations contested each category across four groups, with Argentina and Spain topping the men's and women's standings respectively, ahead of Portugal and Italy.

How the World Cup works

Countries, not pairs

Each country brings a squad. Two countries meet in a tie of three matches, each played by a different pair, and the first to win two matches wins the tie — so when one country wins the first two, the third is not played.

Group stage

16 countries per category are drawn into 4 groups and play everyone in their group once.

The title bracket

The best teams from the groups go into a knockout — quarterfinals, semifinals and the final — for the world title.

Every place is played for

Nobody goes home after the groups. Every other team keeps playing for its final position, so the whole field ends up ranked.

A team line-up is put together for one week, so these matches do not count towards player or pair records, titles or ELO ratings on StudyPadel.
